What is KPO?
As there is no uniformity on definition of KPO & BPO, but in our view
Knowledge Process Outsourcing is a process in which companies outsource the
specific processes which require “Domain Expertise”, getting in return better
quality of job done, increased ROI and less time consumption, monetary benefits
& other consultancy online.
E.g. If a company is working very well for last 4 years but this year the sales
starts declining and they are unable to find the cause inspite of all the data
and knowledge residing with them. In this condition, the company will contact a
marketing expert requesting for the diagnosis & solution to the problem.
The domain expert will analyze the data and situation up to the level of his
expertise and will suggest findings to the parent company which will help the
company to overcome the decline.
So, KPO is a domain expertise phenomenon while BPO is a process oriented
phenomenon. KPO is a knowledge intensive process which requires deep knowledge
of the field and process. It requires understanding the clients requirements in
his words like we do System Analysis & Design in building a application
software for a client.
